The 2011 Annual General Membership Meeting for Gwinnett Senior Softball, Inc. (GSS) was held on Saturday, December 3rd, at the Gwinnett County Senior Center located at Bethesda Park. The Senior Center opened at 9:00 a.m. The meeting began at 9:30 a.m. Breakfast snacks and coffee was served.

Members were asked to make every effort to attend the meeting so the Executive Committee could have an opportunity to listen first hand to their concerns and thereby be better informed and able to proceed with decisions impacting league play based on the consensus of the members in attendance. In accordance with the association's by-laws, a quorum was needed (20% of the eligible membership) for the election of officers and for making revisions to the By-Laws, if applicable. 77 members attended the meeting - quorum was met (38% of the eligible active paying membership).

    • Georgia Recreation and Park Assn (7th District) 2011 Volunteer Award presented to the Executive Committee, League Commissioners and Managers of the Gwinnett Senior Softball league for 26 years of service and running an all-volunteer senior softball league and being ambassadors from Gwinnett County.

  • Election of Officers for 2012
    • Gary Mastrodonato, President, and Bert McDade, Vice President, stepped down after serving 5 years in their respective positions.
    • Ron King was elected President and Bob Morrison was elected Vice President - approved by members present.
    • Frankie Baldwin, Treasurer, and Doris Warpole, Secretary, were re-elected to their respective positions.
    • Howard Wilcox introduced as new Mon/Wed League Commissioner.

    • The league lost 3 active playing members and 6 non-playing members in 2011.

  • 2012 Season
    • Field Availability - Softball field (Mon-Thus); Baseball field (Tues/Wed)
    • Nights of Play - Under 60 Mon/Wed; 60+ Tues/Thurs (Members present voted to keep the nights the same as 2011)
    • Practice Schedule - Mon, Thurs and Sat at Best Friend Park
    • Proposed Change from two 12 week seasons and one 5 week Fall League to two 14 week seasons, 3 week break between seasons with a One Pitch Tournament, and increase the member fee - Straw Vote taken; consensus was in favor of the change.
    • Out of County Resident Fee / Light Fees - No increase in fees for 2012

Prizes included the top door prize of a $100 gift certificate from Sports Authority, (2) barbecue packages for 25-30 people donated by Danny Gershwin, frozen turkey donated by Ron King, Gwinnett Gladiator Hockey Tickets, (2) two-bat back packs donated by Ron Petre, hats, bags, t-shirts, mystery bags, etc.
