MASSL teams participated in the All Star Game on Saturday, August 6, 2005. The tournament was sponsored by the Cobb County Senior Softball Leagues at Smyrna and Hobgood. Two teams participated from each of the three leagues.

Players from Lucky Shoals and Harmony Grove were recommended by Team Managers and selected by the Executive Committee to represent the MASSL. We would have liked to have all MASSL players on the All Star Teams since we consider every player an "All Star", but we were limited to 14 players per team. Players from each of our 8 teams were represented. Ben Wiechman (under 60 league) and Fred Molnar (60 + league) managed the teams.

In the 60+ play, the Smyrna team was undefeated; our MASSL team came in second; and Hobgood was third. In the under 60 play, the Smyrna team was also undefeated; Hobgood came in second; and our MASSL team was third. There were some very close games that were won by only 1 run.

Phil Adams was selected as MVP for the under 60 team. Phil made some remarkable catches in the outfield and hit very well. Ed Davis was selected as MVP for the 60+ team. Ed made an "over-the-shoulder catch" that was unbelievable, plus he got on base every time he came up to bat.

This was the first "organized" inter-league play for senior softball in Atlanta. Everyone who participated or watched the games asked if this would be an annual event. The governing committees of the three leagues agreed to meet later and discuss having an All Star Game each year, rotating sponsorship between the three leagues.
